Melanie Johnston

Melanie Johnston is an Arkansas artist who draws inspiration from the rich culture, heritage, people and environment of the "natural state" and the world.

During her childhood, she expressed an interest and talent for art and creativity. Her love of art blossomed under the tutelage of her high school art teacher who encouraged her to explore different mediums. After graduation, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in graphic design and illustration. Her work has been exhibited at various venues and featured in print. She has worked as a graphic artist in media, advertising and retail, and is currently a freelance graphic and Web designer.

While she enjoys the options and technological creativity that computers afford graphic design, she relishes the more hands-on, traditional art forms like woodblock printing and ceramics. Her artistic interests primarily include pastel and watercolor painting, printmaking, illustration, ceramic pottery, photography and stained glass.
